A little about me...

Edinburgh HynobirthingAs a community midwife and a Hypnobirthing instructor (having taught the programme now for five years) I have witnessed transformations in women afraid of labour and birth. My interest in Hypnobirthing came after a friend experienced an inspirational birth using Hypnobirthing techniques. I have to admit I was somewhat sceptical about it when she told me about the course she was doing! I have since witnessed it first hand supporting women during labour and birth and also personally with the birth of my second child. There is no hocus pocus to it, it is really all down to practice and believing in the power of your body and its ability to birth.

I qualified as a midwife in 2000 and have worked in both large teaching hospitals and smaller rural units. I have tutored pregnant women and their partners, and taught antenatal education. I also teach the NHS syllabus.

I have also worked as a family planning nurse, teaching family planning and sexual health education to young people. In addition I studied a PGDip in Community Education at the University of Edinburgh, focusing on youth studies and teenage sexual health.
